The Marches Academy Trust hold annual Open Events to show off their schools and facilities to potential new students that are making the move up from Junior to Senior school.

 

The brief for this job was to produce something that was fun, friendly and appealing to that age group. The design had to work in multiple applications as it needed to make impactful roadside banners, be scaled down for wrist bands and also be versatile enough to transfer across to postcards, posters and print ads.

 

Using the colours already associated with the 5 schools, the first step was make them a bit more ‘acid’ to make them more eye catching. A heavy slab font worked well for headline text and simple graphics were then designed to emphasise key messages. In complete contrast to the bold graphics, simple clean typography was used for the important information.

 

The schools were also open to students looking to join as sixth formers. Using the school colours in a more muted way, with much simpler graphics I produced and series of postcards more appealing to that slightly older demographic.
